- LOD is a very important concept in BIM.
- The level of detail should be defined according to BIM applications and other project and organization conditions.
- With the increase in the level of detail, the cost of BIM implementation increases greatly and the speed and agility of the model and its changes are greatly reduced, as a result, one must be very careful in choosing and applying it.
- A higher level of detail requires more accurate, complete, and definitive documentation, most of which is not available at the beginning of the project. In addition, it requires continuous and accurate coordination between all project stakeholders, which happens gradually during the progress of project implementation.
- High LOD is not necessarily better. But sometimes it backfires.
- LOD can be chosen differently for different components.

11 个月Thank you for sharing this important term. Many times we get project partners with an almost obsessive determination to request a level of detail in models that do not contribute any advantage in certain stages of development projects.? Experts and users attending model review meetings should be educated not to ask for detail and shine. On the contrary, when a model presents a disproportionate brightness, it is probably trying to hide some flaw in the integration of the systems.
