The Locum Life

I'm back to my old ways, doing what I love, being my own boss. Most of my career as a Sonographer, I've been a locum. Many find this hard to believe. Don't you want job security or to settle down? They ask me...

No, I don't want to settle down. I don't want to settle for anything. I love my life this way. Being on the road, being a nomad, a wanderer - that's me! I love the adventure, I love choosing when and where I want to work. Yes, I'm fortunate to have a career that's in high demand and short supply, but becoming a Sonographer didn't just happen overnight. Studying sonography is a long and gruelling path, but in my mind, totally worth it.

It also takes a lot of time and dedication to become a good generalist. And it takes even longer to become a good Locum. I believe it takes a certain personality type, someone who's flexible and adaptable to change. I love change. I love to keep life fresh and exciting.

If you want to hear more about life as a locum, particularly, as a Sonographer: you can check out my Podcast on Spotify called Sonos Downunder

You can also log in to the ASA website to listen to their Podcast and I'm a guest on episode 17, called The Locum Life. You can also check out my Kofi Page where I post regularly https://ko-fi.com/kellysono

I have some pretty exciting, big plans for the future. But I can't give too much away just yet. I'm also kind of superstitious and don't want to jinx myself by saying too much, too soon. As they say, don't count your chickens..!

Happy Scanning Sonos!
