As the lockdown approaches the third week, the new role that I am playing gets more challenging with odd jobs popping up, now and then. I have kind of mastered the art of “jharu pocha†or “ bartan karna†and some experimental cooking, even the evening tea. But what makes me go numb is when the pencil has to be sharpened and the sharper is missing. The frying pan is wobbling or her specs hinge gets loose. Everyone looks at me, as the ultimate solution provider.
The other day I was asked to make some salad, the tomato was soft; and slicing it evenly, now was a matter of prestige. Jumping off the balcony would have been easier. To top it up just today the clapper of the “puja bell†got itself freed as if to test my skills. The nightmares don’t just end, with no plumber, electrician or repair shops open, I am expected to be a solution provider for all these.
After the grocery shopping expedition when I came back and my kiddo asked for the ketchup I realised I didn’t buy the usual squeeze plastic container but the glass bottle with a sealed cap. I scrambled 15 minutes looking for the bottle opener. I wished my tooth were stronger.
Excited to burn a candle last Sunday after Modi requested for it, I kept one on a new stool and as a rule the candle left all its melted waxes on it. My fault! hence I had to scrape it. An excellent finish was demanded, hence an professional scrapping craftsmanship had to be delivered.
This need to be a master all trade, required a friends who could see me through these challenges. And my friend has been a true multitasker in sorting my problems? Who my friend?
I hope you guys guessed it correct.... My Swiss Army Knife.
