Special Feature ?
For this week’s issue, we had a quick sitdown with Michal Kessel Shitrit, to ask what advice she currently has for UX writers looking to step up their localization game. Here’s what she said ??.
Localization is becoming such an integral part of UX design, but it’s still somewhat of a black box for many content designers. If you’ve feel like your localized content could use an improvement, here are 4 steps that could get you started…
1) Talk to international users. Sit with them for a Zoom or send them a questionnaire to get their input on your localized experience.
2) Set up some tests. No use working hard to improve the content if you can’t measure to see if you’re in the right direction.
3) Discuss the feedback with your localization vendors. Whether they’re an agency, in-house translators, or freelance linguists, they can give you valuable insight and tips.
4) Start making changes, but slowly. Take it step-by-step and measure as you go, so that you can see what’s working and what isn’t.
There’s never a one-size-fits-all solution when it comes to localized content. But if you come to this open-minded and communicative, you can get valuable improvement over time. Good luck!
