Localised Sourcing

Localised Sourcing

Localised sourcing is utilising the channels available in the local community to source new candidates for specific roles.

Localised sourcing involves straying away from the traditional model of posting a job advertisement, and waiting for anyone and everyone to apply. This method has no control over who actually applies for your role and relies on the possibility that the ideal candidate sees your job ad at the exact time it is posted on Seek or Indeed. The traditional model of job advertising leads to a large number of irrelevant applications, from non-serious to unsuitable applicants who are simply applying for the sake of applying.

Localised sourcing utilises channels available within a geographic area where potential candidates may reside. These channels include your local employment agencies, training organisations, or community support services. The cohorts available through these channels include:

  • Youth (16 to 21) seeking their first job.
  • Young adults (21 to 24) seeking to gain further experience.
  • Students (at Uni or TAFE) seeking a job within their field of study.
  • Return to work mums (or dads) seeking to re-enter the workforce or start a career.
  • New migrants (Skilled, Refugees & Asylum Seekers) who are new to Australia and eager to work.
  • Mature age workers seeking a career change or downward step in their current career.
  • People living with a mild to moderate disability who are ready to work.
  • Professionals or experienced candidates seeking more local employment.

The above cohorts reflect the needs of your customers within the local area. Through Localised Sourcing you can better engage your customers by servicing them through people who speak the same language, share a similar religious belief, understand the local nuances, and are able to build rapport quickly.

The benefits of utilising candidates through Localised Sourcing leads to a more diverse workforce that is multi-skilled and able to adapt to the needs of your customer base. Furthermore, candidates are likely to reside within a close proximity to your work location resulting in less absenteeism, minimal travel time, and greater long term retention.

So how do you engage in Localised Sourcing?

As an organisation you would need to have relationships set up with all the below organisation types:

  • All registered training organisations
  • All employment services providers
  • All local high schools
  • All community organisations
  • All Government employment pathway initiatives
  • Any local universities or educational institutions
  • All disability employment services providers
  • Any community groups that meet on a regular basis

After engaging with the above, there would need to be regular sessions held to source, and interview applicants from the local community.

OR

You could contact FindMe, and register an account in our employer portal and have instant access to the above channels, and see candidates immediately.
