Happy Good Friday and Happy Easter everyone. Q1 is over and it's time to move on to Q2. If you had a rough quarter, good news, the slate is wiped clean and you're back to zero. If you had a great quarter, great news, you're back to zero and can continue racking up the wins.

These are my five favorite posts from folks in the mortgage biz this week.
Tough week to choose five as there was some amazing content out there this week.
First up, John Donnelly shares a new bucket list item for me with the 12 Hour Walk. Keep an eye out in the future around the DFW area, there's no telling how far I might roam doing this, but the thought of being alone with my thoughts for 12 hours is both exciting and frightening at the same time. Amazing dedication.
Next, Sarah Berkowitz-Melton recreates and repurposes a classing scene from Seinfeld and puts it into the context of Mortgage. Great job with this.
Third, Ryan Serhant shares a clip from a television spot he did where he goes toe to toe with reporters about the recent NAR Settlement and talks about the value that Realtors provide. There is a ton of discussion in the comments and I suggest you check it out for both the content and the commentary.
Fourth, Roland Scott shares something that I had no idea existed, there is an actual transcript of the Jerry Maguire "Mission Statement" that led to his firing and the start of his own agency. The message Roland brings is also a great one. This industry is built on caring for others and relationships. When we lose sight of that, we lose our way. Never forget the impact you make on the people you serve.
And finally, Barnaby Robles shares a story about his son being selected as Student of the Month at his Jiu-Jitsu Academy. He ties that story back to the kind of hard work and dedication that it takes to achieve goals and the discipline it takes to make it in the mortgage business. As Barnaby says, "One day, one customer, and one loan at a time."

SOLO Tip of the Week:
Make friends with other originators in the business at other companies. Build a network of peers that you can confidently reach out to when you encounter a challenge, that you can bounce ideas off of, and that you can get ideas from.
I emphasize that you look outside of your current company on this so that you can gain additional perspective. Not all mortgage companies view the role of a Loan Officer the same, not all have the same pricing philosophies or marketing abilities.
Make friends internally, sure, that's a given, but also go outside of the company bubble and see what you can learn and what you can help someone else learn.
We're in this together.
