The LO Down - August 2nd - #HighFiveFriday, Podcast of the Week, SOLO Tip brought to you by Greg Sher, and Dad Jokes

Here we are, August 2nd. July is behind us and I hope everyone is starting to see volume pick up and feel some relief in the market.

I teased this earlier in the week, but I decided to make a small change to the format of the newsletter and have been reaching out to some of my friends on the platform to be a "Guest Contributor" and share their best tips and tactics in the SOLO Tip of the Week section.

I've also asked for Dad Jokes, but only one back so far.

Lined up for future editions so far are Mike Faraci , Justin Padron , Dan Smokoska , Scott Payne , and Randy Rorick .

If you'd like to contribute a SOLO Tip (any action that a LO could take to increase their productivity), feel free to hit me up in the DM's.

Moving on...

#HighFiveFriday #BAM

These are my 5 favorite posts from mortgage folks this week.

First up, Scott Payne shares a pretty brilliant take on the benefits of sending video through the service BombBomb , and the advantage that the analytics can give you as it relates to who are the best likely candidates to follow up with after you take an application.

Second, I loved seeing this post from Danny Drysdale this week. I'm a huge advocate for collaboration taking place amongst others in the industry, so seeing this picture and reading the post made my day. Mastermind attendance can fluctuate, but the most important part is that you stay consistent and keep them going. I hope this group continues to come together to collaborate.

Third, Sarah Ward shares a great analogy that really drives home the importance of being prepared for potential circumstances for your career. Don't wait until things are going poorly, have a few conversations, make a plan, and then you'll know what to do just in case "just in case" happens.

Fourth, Mike Cush posts a picture of frozen water in the grocery store and makes a great point. He shares a Rocket Mortgage "ism" which is "innovation is rewarded, execution is worshipped." As the post says, the ideas are great and all, but the ability to make them happen is where the magic is at. Don't stop at having a good idea, execute and make things happen. You might think "Premium Drinking Cubes" are ridiculous, but they're in a grocery store, and that's pretty impressive.

And finally, Anne Marie Bachmann is someone who recently popped onto my radar and feed and I wanted to highlight one of her posts as a great example of how to highlight others on your team. If you follow Anne Marie at all, you'll see posts like this one all of the time. She does a great job of documenting the people she works with and highlighting the culture they have. Thanks for setting a great example.

Podcast of the Week:

The Collective: Trim, Transfer, and Trash

In this episode, Kyle Draper?? and Shane Kidwell discuss a "sales reset" and the importance of identifying the unnecessary tasks that you can trim, what to delegate (transfer), and what to stop doing (trash). Pro tip: Skip ahead to the 2:00 minute mark to get past the intro music.

SOLO Tip of the Week - Featuring Guest Contributor Greg Sher :

You've heard the phrase "people don't care how much you know until they know how much you care."

Collaboration starts with caring.

High-producing sales folks want to be met with the same intense energy and focus they put out into the universe.? Find me a great producer, and I'll show you an individual who covets research, knowledge and effort--and VALUE.

Don't just "like" on social media. Anyone can do that.? Take the time to learn about the person and go out of your way to let them know you're not behaving like a bot.? This will help lower the walls and get you on your way to building REAL and meaningful relationships on SM.

Lastly, find ways to add value.? That's the holy grail.

The “LO Down” is a perfect thing for all mortgage leaders to share with their teams on a Monday morning - things to think about and implement for the coming week. I appreciate the mention - but I appreciate more the time it takes each week to put this together. Greg Sher’s tip about making real contact and connections on social media is probably the tip of the day. I had someone in the local supermarket recognize me yesterday based on comments I made about his restaurant on Facebook. As much as the world changes, the value of true heartfelt connects never changes.
