LNG: What's shaping the landscape in 2025 (and beyond)
With potential policy changes under a new U.S. administration, ongoing geopolitical situations, and competition from new markets, there is no shortage of LNG news to keep an eye on in 2025.
North America’s LNG export capacity is on track to more than double between 2024 and 2028, jumping from 11.6 billion cubic feet per day (bcf/d) to 24.4 billion bcf/d.
This growth is driven by 10 projects currently under construction but potential tariffs and competition from Qatar’s expanding LNG exports are raising concerns.

?? U.S. moves into Asian LNG markets
The Middle East has traditionally supplied LNG to northeast Asia while the U.S. has directed its exports to Europe.
At least four new Sales and Purchase Agreements (SPAs) for U.S. projects have been signed with Asian buyers. On top of this, LNG Canada is set to ship its first cargo to Asia this year. Throw into the mix Asian gas demand is expected to grow by at least 1% - these are some interesting times.
