LNG PROJECTS : OVERVIEW
As demand for LNG is growing through out the globe so many of us might be getting into EPC sector for LNG Plants. I have worked in a Regasification Project and will like to share some basics about facilities that are built to bring LNG to the markets.
Classification of facilities from extraction of Natural Gas to end user facilities.
1) Transportation from Gas Field to Onshore Facility
2) Liquefaction & Storage Facility
3) Transportation Facility (Marine Facility for Loading & Unloading LNG Ships)
4) Regasification & Storage Facility
Major Equipments in each Facility :
1) Upstream Facility will have Pipelines and vessels to separate various gases & liquid from Natural Gas to purify the gas as per customer standards.
2) Liquefaction Facility will have compressors for refrigeration, condensers & heat exchangers to transfer heat for liquefaction of gas. Cryogenic Storage Tanks to contain Liquefied NG. Intank Pumps to transfer NG.
3) Marine Facility to Load and Unload Natural Gas which will have loading & unloading arms at the Marine facility and large cryogenic vessels to carry Liquid NG.
4) Regasification facility will have Cryogenic Storage Tanks and downstream super heaters, air heaters to gasify the liquid NG, Boil of Gas Compressors to contain the vapor in Tank.
Timeline for all Phases: It will definitely depend on the quantum of gas which shall be contained or transferred. I will give a rough estimate to understand the timeline
2) Liquefaction Facility will take 3-4 for Pre FEED & FEED Phase. EPC will take 4-5 Years to complete the project.
4) Regasification Facility will take 2-3 years for Pre FEED & FEED Phase. EPC will take 3-4 Years to complete the project.
