LMTP1 wins FIDIC Project of the Year award

Maynilad was recently conferred the 2022 FIDIC Contract Users’ “Project of the Year” Award for the design and construction of its La Mesa Treatment Plant 1 (LMTP1).

FIDIC or the International Federation of Consulting Engineers—best known for its suite of contract templates—recognizes organizations worldwide that showcase excellence in the use of its coract forms for project delivery, and those that exemplify good industry practices through collaboration.

Maynilad’s massive ?7-billion project to upgrade its La Mesa treatment plants was noted for its overall objective of improving treatment capacity and earthquake resiliency. The judges took note of how successfully the FIDIC Yellow Book contract was used, particularly in the timely finalizing of claims and variations even amidst the challenges of the pandemic.

They also noted the project’s inclusion of a new solar power farm, which marked Maynilad’s initial foray into renewables in line with its environmental sustainability and operational efficiency initiatives.

The winners of the 2022 FIDIC Contract Users’ Awards were announced at a high-profile ceremony in London last November. It included awards for different categories, namely: Project of the Year, Client of the Year, Legal Firm of the Year, and Trainer of the Year.
