The goal of this article is to help those people new to learning technologies understand some of the key technical jargon that is standard for all LMS/LXP set ups.?The reality is we see a lot of clients trying to get their LMS/LXP and they are not aware of the information they need to ensure their platform is as automated as possible on the admin side. Over the next couple of weeks i will publishing a range of these articles which I hope are useful...as there is no doubt set up can be stressful if your not used the jargon!


In this article I will cover:-

  • What user provisioning or account provisioning means
  • What a unique identifier is and why they are so important in account provisioning
  • What an API is and how Apis can be used to automate account provisioning


So lets start with User or account provisioning


User or account provisioning is an essential part of any Learning Management System (LMS) or Learning Experience Platform (LXP). It is the process of providing access to a user or an enterprise client to the system’s features and capabilities.?

Using API′s to provision my LMS / LXP

Sounds like the unique ID (in this case) is applied to learners/people only. For LMS tools: Does each course have a UID? (And is that typically hidden or visible to learners?) Thanks!
