LMI Group – 20 years later

Little did I know when I started the LMI Group at the kitchen table in my home on the 25th February 1999 that it would have developed into the diversified group in every sense of the word that it is today.

While the geographical spread and range of services has grown exponentially during these 20 years, and the words have been moved around, the core values for the organisation remain unaltered.

That is, we want to inspire and empower people to better manage risk & recovery.

We want to help guide you through the ‘minefield’ of insurance, and together, we will all manage the world’s risk.

Despite having what I thought was great vision, I never dreamed that the business would be anything like it is today.

Each of our core values I believe has been the foundation for our success. The LMI Group is renowned for being a beacon of trust, putting the customer first, great technical expertise and innovation. It is for this reason our 5 core values are:

  5. Passionate

I personally believe that it is easy to follow these principles if you have a sense of history. If you realise that at some point your actions will be brought into question and if you know that no matter what is thrown at you that you can hold your head high and not be embarrassed by anything you have done, knowing that at the end of each week you will have made a positive difference, it is very rewarding.

This sense of history has led us to carry out in depth studies into the history of insurance, the principles that govern it and to collect. This collecting has gone in many directions, from textbooks, tariffs, insurance policies and traditions.

As we reflect on our past 20 years, and how we celebrate this with the industry as a whole, we have come up with the theme of 20 Years – 20 Services. For my part, I think 20 services is a conservative count of the very broad range of tools and products that we have developed to assist the insurance and wider community. Our recently developed vision of ‘managing the world’s risk’ whilst grand and aspirational is, if we are true to ourselves, a genuinely realistic mission for our next 20 years.
