Llandudno named as the UK's number one seaside resort by TripAdvisor
A travel website has voted Llandudno the BEST seaside resort in the UK and the fourth best UK destination overall.
Trip Advisor named the Conwy town as the number one seaside resort in the country as part of their Travellers’ Choice awards for destinations.
The resort beat the likes of Blackpool and Torquay to take the top spot, after the English resorts came fifth and sixth respectively.
James Kay, spokesman for TripAdvisor, said: “The destinations best rated by travellers are often those that marry value with great experiences, so it is easy to see why Llandudno – where the average room rate bookable on TripAdvisor is almost half the price of London– has performed so well this year.”
Award winners were chosen using an algorithm which took into account the quantity and quality of reviews and ratings for hotels , restaurants and attractions in destinations worldwide, gathered over a 12-month period as well as traveller booking interest on TripAdvisor.
Some of the attractions which helped to clinch the seaside resort title for Llandudno included the Great Orme, the Promenade, and Llandudno Pier.
The majority of the reviews left on TripAdvisor about Llandudno have been extremely positive, with many praising the views.
The award is another major boost for Northern Powerhouse Developments and Giant Hospitality who now have four hotels in and around the Welsh resort.
The group have seen bookings soar over the past year and the award reflects what a shrewd move it was in choosing Llandudno as home to their first cluster of hotels.
Commenting on the resort’s lastest award, NPD chairman Gavin Woodhouse said: “One of the reasons we chose Llandudno as a base for our hotels was its huge appeal and charm and this award reflects what a popular place it has always been.
“To be named the UK’s best seaside resort is a huge boost to the region and with four hotels now in operation in Llandudno we are delighted to be playing such an integral part of that growth and recognition.”
