LJMU to offer M.Sc. Maritime Energy Efficiency (MEE)
The maritime industry is the largest consumer of hydrocarbon fuels generating probably the largest amount of GHG.?To mitigate the environmental impact, it is investing significant resources in developing technology together with associated regulations. These developments however have caused a void in formal educational programme globally.
As a consequence, it has been recognised by LJMU that the shore-based?ship managers and others associated with this field need education to a much higher level. Only then the IMO’s target of 40% reduction CO2 emissions by 2030 and 70% by 2050 can be achieved.
LJMU’s new M.Sc. MEE will incorporate modules covering current issues related to Maritime Energy Efficiency, Cyber Security, Environmental Protection and Conventional / Alternative Energy Sources.?This M.Sc. aims to combine LJMU’s expertise in engineering, renewable and maritime teaching and research to provide a holistic solution for shipping and ports/shipyards ?
