?? LIVING OUT OF ALIGNMENT ??

Hello, my friends!
Today, I wanted to share with you a bit about my own life.
I’ve had some of my clients look at me and say, “How could you understand? You look like you have it all together!”
And, for the most part, I have gotten my shit together.
But it wasn’t always like this.
*
Like many of you, I have been on the spiritual path since I was quite young.
It’s the center of my mission here, and I’ve been aware of it for as far back as I can remember.
Pursuing this path, I learned many stories.
I learned about biblical perspectives and mythical perspectives from cultures the world over.
I learned about modalities and practices and different spiritual perspectives.
And all of these things are incredibly valuable.
But for many years, this value was not evident in my life.
*
I entered a relationship out of fear of being alone.
I locked myself into a situation that didn’t fit my needs, mostly because I was afraid of uncertainty.
And I walled myself off from the world, split between a vivid inner world and a banal, unsatisfying outer world.
If I were to have looked at my life at that point to assess the value of spiritual teachings, I’d have to say they were nearly worthless.
But that was just a part of the journey.
*
I had to hit bottom and lose everything before I stepped back from the structures I’d created in my life.
Before I began to reconsider where I’d like to put my energy.
When I hit bottom, I had to consider the track of my life, the decisions I’d made, and how I showed up to each moment.
I had to take all of these ideas and practices and begin living them instead of just understanding them.
And this is such a journey!
*
For me, this journey happened in stages.
First: the silence.
I didn’t even know it, but I’d been afraid of silence.
The hugeness of the world within is intimidating when we try to control it. It’s too big.
So I ran from the silence with stories and distractions and habits, until I could run no more.
And, after the silence caught up, we soon made friends.
I found that the still space within is the greatest teacher in my life, an overflowing source of wisdom, peace, and strength.
*
In the quiet, I found I was able to hear myself.
I had suppressed or ignored my own needs, trying to be what I thought I should be, trying to be what others wanted me to be.
I’d made a lifestyle out of this. And this lifestyle was supported by stories of being a good mate, a good person, unselfish.
But it was out of balance. No one feels and understands my needs and desires the way I do.
So, to be accountable for my life means to be responsible for my own needs and feelings.
*
This was a whole new phase of the journey.

Learning to listen to what I felt, learning how to honor myself, just as I was intending to honor others.
Bringing it back to balance.
So much of this is a process of making peace with our lives.
And, for me, accepting my own feelings, making peace with my life, led me to a question: “What are you going to do with it?”
*
What would I do with this blessing of life?
This question is one of power.
Each one of us wields power in the world – and in our own lives – in countless tiny ways. And in some really huge ways.
With our words, our choices, our actions, and even our attention.
When we begin to wield our power consciously, we must learn how to do so with integrity, in a way that honors all who are impacted by our endeavors.
This takes us even deeper, as we encounter old stories, habits, and bits of stuck emotion that prevent us from using our power intentionally.
*
So we begin the long journey of reclaiming our power by dropping these things away.
Surrendering more and more of who we thought we were, so that the hugeness of who we really are can begin to emerge.
In the process, we shift from a horizontal way of relating to the world, fixed and focused in the middle world, to a vertical path of personal connection with Source.
*
And still the journey is not over!
Once we have entered a space of personal relationship with source, it’s time to return our attention to the middle world, the visible world.
Now we inhabit the body, fully, as a blessing and an expression of the One.
Now we inhabit our life fully and begin to use the whole force of our Being to serve our values.
*
The process is one of continual expansion.
And with each new expansion, we feel we see the whole world, and what we knew before is seen in a different light.
With each expansion, the world takes on a new appearance in our personal journey.
And these expansions are never over!
All that I can see now is but a glimmer of what I will see after the next round of deep opening.
*
This is the human journey, the path of development of consciousness.
The growth of the soul.
And, underneath all the games we appear to play in life, this is the real one.
This is what it’s all about.
Aligning the little “i” with the big “I” and learning to live it!
