Growing as a Commercial Leader has seen me experience different roles over the last 20 years; from Sales Representatives, Area Sales Manager, Shopper Manager in Customer Marketing to Regional Spirits Manager and now my current role as Commercial Capability Lead in Kenya.

Capability has always been in my heart and anyone who has worked with me will attest to the fact that in each of these roles coaching and bringing the best out of people is what I am known for.

Being relatively new in role when Covid 19 struck, I had to quickly pivot our learning plans to 100% online, fully leveraging our learning platform, My Learning Hub.?During this time, the commercial teams and indeed the total business were involved in learning beyond functional skills, to include life skills; leading self and others in navigating uncertainty, living our values and wellbeing (physical, emotional, social, financial) amongst others.

As the learning momentum continued and seeing how we had leveraged Leaders and Peers to share knowledge, I launched Speak to the Experts in 2021.?This is a learning forum that uses the Diageo Leaders as Teachers model (LAT), peer-to-peer learning, learning from different leaders, as well as functions unpacking what they do. This journey has been hugely successful as we keep to the 70:20:10 learning model (On the job, colleagues and formal): the learning culture we so desired at the beginning is being engraved throughout in KBL.

Learning in 2022 has been heavily invested in building functional and leadership skills for the future. I am proud to have stretched beyond the Kenyan borders to our colleagues in East Africa, South Sudan and South Africa by sharing learning as well as continuous learning from each other.

We continue this journey as we make Africa the continent that will shape the future.
