Living in the moment(ea) in a social media age

I'm back with another musing during #tea time! I promise to be more regular because just like a refreshing break, I find a lot of joy in sharing my thoughts online.

To start with- I just reached a milestone of 10k followers on #LinkedIn- and I sheepishly admit that it's probably just because I spend a lot of time here- reading inspirational posts, celebrating other people's milestones and commenting on a few interesting CTAs. Lurkers can also apparently win the race, albeit at their own pace. ??

It's #MentalHealth month- and I want to share how I cope with the unreal realities of the #online world:

????1) Unfollow freely: TOO much of a good thing doesn't feel good anymore & while social media is super useful to me, I unfollow people who don't add value to my feed or my time, almost every day. That's my biggest takeaway as a person who's online 7 hours a day/ every week on average- don't be afraid to clean up your social media feeds and ensure it's adding value to the time you spend on any platform.

??2) Create your own #socialmedia schedule: You can tailor your schedule according to your productivity spikes. It has been a gamechanger for me as I really need an ideal work-life balance to work optimally. That means my day sometimes looks like 9 to 5, or 2 to 11 or even 11 to 8. This also means I schedule my social media time- which spikes first thing morning (guilty!), around lunch & just before I sleep. Memes are usually my go-to dose of serotonin as I distract myself.

?? ??3) Be wary of 'doomscrolling': I've been there- consuming reels/Youtube videos- one after the other before realising I've wasted too much time AND I've reached a point where the visual stimulation is not enjoyable anymore. I always end up taking a walk, or even getting up from a 'rest' position to move around just to not 'hate' how social media can sometimes trigger FOMO after a long day of seemingly just working or even watching Netflix.

We live in a strange time where our lives are overstimulated with screens and #content. It always helps to remember that this is your life and you choose how what and whom to spend it on- so choose wisely and go take a hike..or a walk!???? ♀?#Tfortoday

How do you create boundaries with #technology? ??
