It is difficult to find equilibrium and clarity of mind. Our minds are often full of competing thoughts and priorities. From workplace tasks to grocery lists and tax returns. But over the past years, the practice of mindfulness has aided countless professionals and people from all walks of life.?
Practising mindfulness is “like a fitness routine for your brain,” notes Christine O’Shaughnessy, a former investment bank executive who now leads meditation and mindfulness workshops at Harvard, “it keeps your brain healthy.”
We want to share how mindfulness may aid your work, your life, and your leadership.
What is mindfulness?
Mindfulness is the ability to be present in the moment. It is about developing the ability to think clearly, and creatively, and focus your attention. The Center for Wellness and Health Promotion at Harvard University defines it as, “paying attention to the present moment with openness, curiosity, and acceptance.”?
What are the benefits?
The benefits of practising mindfulness are overwhelmingly positive. Separate studies found that people who consistently practice mindfulness noticed: reduced stress, an increase in focus and compassion, and increased perceived overall well-being.

Where do I Start?
There are numerous mindfulness exercises. Three are:
One of the simplest options is to explore mindfulness apps like Headspace or Calm, which offer simple guided meditation sessions and valuable resources.?
Remember to start where you can. While 30 minutes a day would be amazing, starting with 3 to 5 minutes is also a huge win. The key is getting started and sticking with it.?
