Living in the Median of Life, Old White Guy Check-In, Living Through the Storm

"And once the storm is over, you won't remember how you made it through, how you managed to survive. You won't even be sure whether the storm is over. But one thing is certain. When you come out of the storm, you won't be the same person who walked in. That's what this storm's all about."

Good morning beautiful people, it's Friday, it's springtime, we are working for the benefit of humanity, it's a beautiful thing. So welcome back to my free internet soup café, if you have been here before, you understand the rules, if you are new, welcome, thanks for stopping by. I cook this soup daily, penning some thoughts, just some ideas and opinions, I'm an old white guy, one of those marginalized in society.

I have quite a day today; my first meeting is at 7:00 that lasts until 10:00. Then a 10:30, then an 11:00 to 1:00, a 2:00, a 3:00, a 4:00, and then I'm done. Understand these are all virtual meetings, I'll be sitting in front of my computer just chatting with folks, this is our reality today.

I had a call yesterday with a group of men, we call it G-10, we do now have a female so we are not sexist, I've yet to meet our female member, but she sounds uber-smart, I look forward to connecting with her. We all gave our updates; it was another virtual meeting. I've decided to wear my mohawk ski hat during all virtual sessions, desperate times call for drastic measures.

So, one of our employees is locked down; as of yesterday, he was down to two frozen pizza's. Kids, I mean come on, man, but we are sending a batch of food to him this morning, we are taking care of our team. I suggest you do the same.

We will get through this, I know this sucks, no one is to blame, it is nice to see the country once divided starting to pull together, there are gifts in these time, enjoy them, don't buy into the end of the world hype, we will survive, I promise.

It's 5:00 a.m., I'm up, I'm working, and I encourage you to do the same. We got word that many of our carriers were suspending premium payments giving our clients some time to recoup, I think most folks will need some time, I'm proud of our industry for stepping up.  If you can work from home, do so, it makes the time pass and gives your life some value.

I was interviewed on a podcast yesterday about our firm's ability to work from home. We have not missed a beat, we are all working, all from home, we were well-positioned for this. I have many friends that were not so well positioned; they are still going to their office, using their old desktops and landline phones, this is a wake-up call to all, modify your office to remove all anchors. We did, the time is now.

I have Zoomed and Face Timed more this week than ever before. It's nice to see a face; it's nice to chat, thankfully we have reliable internet on top of the mountain, cell service is secure, we can connect with the outside world. I wonder how those with no internet are dealing with this situation, the idea that the internet should be a utility like power is gaining momentum.

So I think we are moving towards a socialist society.  Universal Basic Income is in play; it seems the President and his team have outflanked the Democrats, they moved left of the Dems overnight, it's incredible to watch this political evolution. The "orange man bad" thing is wearing on most; I think we are seeing the true colors of our politicians. Let's put politics aside for a few weeks, let's be one country, one force that stops the bickering and chooses a common goal.

The kids found a show yesterday; it's called Dave, it's on Hulu, if you are looking for a show, it's funny, smart, and has some downtown bonanza's and cash and prizes if you know what I mean. We watched a few episodes last night; we will again enjoy the story of Dave tonight.

Well, that's all I have, a little update about us, the 5 of us, against the rest of you. We have a shit ton of snow up here, about a foot, I think we will get more, why not add a snowstorm to our current situation, bring it on Lord, we got this. I will share we have a cat at our mountain retreat. Her name is Jolene, I think she is autistic. She dances around; she talks; she's a weird, beautiful creature like the rest of us. She is part of our entertainment package; now is the time to love your animals.

I'll be back tomorrow, I will not be up at 5:00, I'll sleep in due to it being Saturday, but I'll pen a few thoughts, this is my therapy, and I suggest you also have some outlet to help you through these weird times. If you have a couple of hours, make sure to watch the most recent Joe Rogan Experience. I'll leave it there, find it on YouTube, it's well worth your time.

I love you; I do, your daily consumption of my work is appreciated, and I don't tell you often how much it means that you take time out of your day to sip my soup. It means a lot, your words of encouragement and scorn are taken with appreciation and understanding. I'm wrong a lot, right sometimes, and seem to live in the median of life most days. Stay safe, be healthy, I'll see you tomorrow.
