Living life the way you want freely

#newdaynewchapter is a Blog narrative started on March 1, 2021 co-founded by Kishore Shintre & Sonia Bedi, to write a new chapter everyday for making "Life" and not just making a "living"
I want to live by these 3 rules of my life and I am implementing them. Life without regrets. Stop complaining. Period. I believe regret is the ghost that haunts. Failure is the angel that guides you home. Above mentioned lines are taken from a song called “Smoking Gun”. I have seen people talking sharing their goals, visions, dreams, desires with me ( some in the first meeting) but when they are asked what are they doing in order to achieve it, they come up with multiple excuses.
I have seen regret in people’s eyes to not standing up for them in the need of the hour, for not taking the initiative to start the business they wanted to, for not taking the step to confront the parents or to convince them for letting them marry their boyfriend/girlfriend, for wasting time in futile work and not pursuing their dreams and the list goes on.
In this world, we are surrounded with numbers. We play with numbers, measure with numbers, work with numbers, eat with numbers (calories), chase numbers. Thus, normally, we have numbers running in our minds. We all know numbers are endless. Don’t chase numbers. It will never be enough. People run around the jobs chasing promotions, paychecks, leading to zero social life, poor health and broken relations. One should not play the game for money or the result. You need to love the process.
Earlier I used to judge people. Why shouldn’t I? I learnt it the hard way that it’s none of use to judge people or label them as illiterate, uneducated, unsophisticated, etc. etc. What changed me? I realized that when we judge people, we think about them more often which makes us kill our time and distracted from our goal or purpose which leads us to not bearing any fruitful results and stop planning your life on other’s people opinions. It will never be worth it. As Robert Downey Jr. has said wisely, "Listen, smile, agree and then do whatever the heck you were gonna do anyway".
Start by accepting the fact that the universe (other people included) will do what it (they) wants, not what you want. Therefore you must start by accepting that you can only do what you want within these limits. Your power is only in the present moment to make decisions (including how to react to the universe) that will enable you to assert your will. If you start making those decisions intelligently you will discover that as time goes on the universe will "bend" a bit in the direction that accords with your will and that you will become more able to accept it and incorporate it with your own desires.
So start with the “end game” in mind…the problem for so many people. The reason so few opportunities are happening for a lot of folks. The cause of so much frustration in their lives. Is because they are confused. They have no idea what they really want. They want 5000 different things. And this confusion is the bouncer, not letting you inside of club “The Life I Want”. I’d be willing to bet that 95% of people don’t know what they actually want. And here’s how to tell…If I said to you right now, can you tell me the top 5 things you need, could you do it?
Is it financial security? Is it love? Is it the freedom to express yourself. These are the things you can’t function without. Are you aware of what they are? Are you consciously aware of what makes you truly happy? There’s no waste to life, if you are happy living it. Your happiness is the root of your desires. Do you like to travel? Being around children? Owning a successful business? Your significant other? Financial freedom? Do you know what makes you truly happy? Do people around you know what you’re passionate about? Could your husband tell us what you want out of life? Could your best friend? How about your dad? If those around you know what you want, chances are, you know what you want.
So the best way to live the way you want, is to stop with the confusion. And actually determine what it is that you want. It’s massively important to know what you’re trying to accomplish, first. Not waver from that. And then cut out all the other thing standing in the way of that. What you want is black and white. There is no grey. You can’t get the life you want until you know exactly what that life looks like. So say “forget it” to the distractions. “forget it” to the “what ifs”. And address your finish line! Once that’s done, you reverse engineer it. When you know what you want. When you know where you’re going. You don’t care what other people think. And you don’t get distracted. Then you can focus on your plan.
First you need to figure out how you want to live, before you can do it. Then, picture it. Imagine already living the way you want to. What are you wearing, where do you live, what does your average day look like, what are your hobbies, what do you do for work, etc. There’s a good book called “Do It! Let’s get off our buts” by Peter McWilliams that set me on the right track. Now doing the work I love, travelled alone across the country to do it, and spend every day enjoying my life the way I choose.
Start with self love, the real self love, not how to pamper yourself. So many people confuse the two. I don't know you to know what your lifestyle is or habits are but once you truly love yourself for who you are in the good times and the bad. It’s life changing. As you are working on that, add a little more pieces of advise like everyone says diet and exercise is brain power. Your brain controls everything but do you want it to control you or you control it? Read, knowledge is power. Find new interests, hobbies. Drink tons of water to flush out toxins, refresh each and every day.
Believe in yourself, don't believe the liar that says you cant do it because if you fight back and tell your mind oh yes I can, you will making your goals achievable, like promotions world travel. I think wanting to become president isn't unachievable but what are the odds along side the ambition? Many have accomplished it. Just don't give up. Soon you will believe that statement even if you don't at first if you say it out loud over and over you will start believing and stop making excuses then boom one day you will be looking back at a time when you succeeded after your mind told you couldn't, when you remember that moment you will get the biggest smile on your face. Cheers!
