Living life by the Power of the Holy Spirit

Read a story of a Christian couple who had gone atheist. I could not help but anticipate the part where they would come back to Christ because of this awesome illuminating “aha” of a moment, however as I read I never got to that moment but realized it was a love story.

This couple had experienced the perfect love of Jesus through their relationship with one another as well family, friends and church. They had fallen out of love because of the influence of the experiences around them. The story explained how the couple was experiencing life and could not believe all the bad things that had started happening in their lives. the problem was they felt that they could not ask questions or question what is God doing? They were what I believed to be fixed on being a Christian and not living the Christian life.

Here is the insite I got from my conversation with the Lord:

The state of being is within the carnal/physical condition of a person. This state brings with it the lack of faith beyond your own ability. When “Being” a Christian you leave no room for imperfection. You leave no chance of failure. Your motive and drive comes from your own ability and might. Therefore it is no need for a loving God to come in and be the savior of your life. The bible says that God so loved us that He gave to us His most prize possession and that was his son so that you and I can have an abundant life here on earth and in heaven.

When “living” you have life meaning you possess it. In possession you take on ownership or total control. Well God gives us life in abundance and we control it by the indwelling power of the Holy Spirit. When “living “a Christian life, we stand in the power of the Holy Spirit. We allow it to do the leading and guiding and directing. We also realize the “living” part of the trinity in us. We realize that it is neither by our might nor power but by the spirit of God.

Here is where I had the conversation with the Lord, He reminded me of a scripture in the bible that says:

“So he said to me, this is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord almighty. Zech. 4:6.

Zerubbabel is a prince in the Old Testament who was at a trying time in his life and needed special encouragement from God. And God says to him neither by might (his own ability) nor by power (influence of other) but by my spirit the authority, power and energy of the most High will Zerubbabel be able to build the temple.

Here is the lesson; it is a danger to do Christianity by your own power and ability. God did not mean for us to accept him as lord and that’s it. He meant that once we have accepted Him as Lord we enter into a relationship with God the Father, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit as our guide.

There will be times when things get out of sort. That is when you asked the hard questions and be fair to hear His answer. It’s not a ladder concept of a relationship we have with the Lord, it’s a road that is horizontal and winds in an out, up and down, sometimes hard to see and sometimes so visual it hurts to look at it. But what makes it easy and do-able is the indwelling of the Holy Spirit as our guide and knowing that God’s grace is sufficient.

 The bible says:

But the comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you John 14:26

Allow God to do the leading in your life. Don’t do Christianity by your own ability but by Gods guidance and utterance through the Holy Spirit.

 Here is the application:

1 God is ok with your questioning him. But make sure your fair and wait to hear his answer, and remember He uses everything to teach, guide and provide what we need.

2 life as a Christian is not all good times and blessings flowing always, at times God test you, and put you through something’s so you can learn who he is and He is all you need. And finally

3 Don’t attempt to live an abundant life as a Christian without the Holy spirit as your guide.

Will you pray this prayer with me:

Lord help me to possess this Christian life with the power of your holy spirit and when times get hard help me to trust you, In Jesus name Amen.
