Living in a place with no rules may seem amusing, but when it comes to business, it is far from it. In a country where paying suppliers as soon as funds are available is not allowed, or assigned payment dates are then postponed, followed by a 30% devaluation, it becomes a serious matter.
How we survive to such sudden changes in comex policies? I believe it is part of the Argentinean businessman's DNA.
On the supplier side, it may seem unbelievable and require lots of conversations, reports, explanations, and up-to-date information. Otherwise, it may appear more like an excuse not to pay than a genuine circumstance.
Trust and communication are key to maintaining long-term relationships and taking advantage of the opportunities in rapidly growing markets. Although this time it is Argentina, these kinds of storms often occur in other emerging markets, especially in Latam.
