Living & computing sustainably
Meghalaya was a dream destination for me. This summer, a trip to the North east hills of India was truly mesmerizing.
Growing up, we had all heard about the place with the highest rainfall in the world, Cherrapunjee. Over the years, by the time our kids went to school, the wettest place has shifted to Mawsynram... a place not very far away from Cherrapunjee.
However this year, the place has not seen much rainfall even when it is the pre monsoon time when typically you would have about 1400 inches of rain. The past weeks have seen the central parts of India have the lowest temperatures. Delhi woke up to the 3rd coldest May morning since 1901, on 4 May. This had a direct impact on the rain clouds getting formed and moving towards the north east hills.
For all those skeptics who do not believe that climate change is for real, it's time to wake up from their dreams.
So when we talk about living and computing sustainably, it is important to realise that every bit and every byte counts.

1 å¹´Well said Mahua. As someone rightly said, "The less we do to address climate change now, the more regulation we will have in the future ".
