Attended a very informative and inspiring session today by Grosvenor in London on creating "living cities" around the world.
What does it take to create a living city?
Studies done by the United Nations, Population Division in 2014 indicated urbanisation is inevitable*. Research and forecast indicate by 2050, some cities will even have 100% of its population living in urbanised areas.
The question then becomes, how do we become a more sustainable society to ensure the future generations have the same quality of life as we enjoy now?
We need to address issues such as overcoming environmental factors, creating and building communities with micro-economies and ecosystems, and build quality properties that will last centuries.
Grosvenor has developed an extensive list of attributes that are required to become successful cities to address the issue of organisation, population growth and activating public spaces.
Full report and case studies by Grosvenor can be downloaded here: https://www.grosvenor.com/downloads/living-cities-our-approach-in-practice.pdf.
Highly encourage all developers and those in the property industry to have a read.
@Grosvenor, I thank you for making a difference for our future generations.

8 年Leanne Lenassi, MBA (Mktg Mgt), sadly you're right. That's not the legacy we should be leaving behind: buildings with no connectivity and no soul.

8 年The fact is you can't just plant a green strip anymore, to make it look green. Developers have to off set! It should not be a choice but a responsibility!
