Living Authentically and The Real Meaning of "Putting Yourself Out There"

Have you ever thought about who you would be without:

  • Your name
  • Your family
  • Your job title
  • Your religion
  • Your beliefs

Isn’t it fascinating to think about who you’d be and what interests you would have if you had a different upbringing?

This is not an insult…it’s an invitation to see things differently. Nothing has to change aside from the ability to see deeper than the labels that you currently think define you.

Who you really are is the watcher of your thoughts…the observer of your reactions…the one acknowledging the fact that your identity is not even close to the sum total of all that is you.

Personally, I know for sure that this concept of “putting my self out there” makes it easier to share bravely and live authentically. It helps me remember that others’ opinions of me, or their concept of who “Mike” is, is none of my business…nor is it even real. This allows me to live in the moment and make decisions based on inspiration instead of habit.

It’s a continuous, never-ending practice of nonconformity, but it’s one that feels aligned.

What do “you” think?
