Livestrong at 59
Family and friends,
May 15 is my 59th birthday, and I ask you to consider a sponsorship gift to Livestrong. Today, I am fundraising for RAGBRAI.?
Twenty years ago, I heard the words, “You have cancer.” From the start, the organization and community that are Livestrong helped me reframe how I lived with, through, and beyond cancer.
Ten years ago, the unimaginable happened. My wife Judy also received a cancer diagnosis. While testicular cancer is among the most easily cured, multiple myeloma is considered incurable. Although many people live with it for years as a chronic disease, we lost Judy to it in just months.
It’s a major milestone year.
In celebration of my twenty years as a survivor and in recognition of the ten years since Judy’s passing, I have big goals: $10,000 each for two Livestrong rides. My beloved M-J, herself a three-year breast cancer survivor, and I have signed on for RAGBRAI L, the 50th iteration of the Register’s Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa, with 50 Livestrong riders, for seven days of cycling, camping, and camaraderie in July. We will also return to Texas to ride in my 20th Challenge—or in earlier years, Ride for the Roses—in Austin with the mighty Cyclists Combating Cancer team, this year on September 10.

Thank you so much to all who have already donated this year. I am forever grateful for your support and for Livestrong’s help and inspiration. I’ll keep you posted on my progress.
Thank you!
Scott
