Live Theater in Central Georgia
Today, I'm excited to shine a spotlight on a group that I truly believe will bring Butts County together: the Butts Acting Guild. Founded by a couple of our very own local theater enthusiasts, Stacey McKnight and Tina Brondo, this guild is on a mission to deliver high-quality, live community theater right here in Jackson.
Stacey passionately shared that our county deserves its own stage. Having experienced the magic of live theater herself, she explained that when the lights go down and the energy of the audience fills the room, every performance becomes a unique, once-in-a-lifetime event. It's that raw, genuine connection—something you just can’t capture on film or TV.
Tina, with her deep love for musical theater, added that live performances aren’t just about watching a story unfold; they’re about being part of something bigger—a shared experience that brings us all together. Picture sitting in a local theater where every laugh, cheer, and unexpected moment of creativity enriches the show and makes you feel like you're right in the heart of the action. Both Stacey and Tina see the Butts Acting Guild as a spark for a much-needed cultural and creative hub in our area—one that nurtures local talent and fuels community growth.
This season, the Guild has a dynamic lineup planned. We have one definite production: Mary Poppins the Musical, coming in August. In addition, there are two tentative shows on the horizon—a comedy production called CLUE and Shrek the Musical—each offering unique opportunities for local talent and creative expression. And then there’s one final tentative production that's near and dear to my heart; if you know Truvy, Annelle, M’Lynn, Shelby, Oiser, and Clairee, then you'll be just as excited as I am to see it come to life on stage!
Having worked in several nearby communities, I've seen firsthand how fostering the arts can enhance local events, boost business, and create an atmosphere brimming with passion and creativity. This isn’t just a series of performances—it's a chance to build a vibrant community, support local talent, and drive economic growth by elevating the ambience of all our community events.
I also want to let you know that the Butts Acting Guild is partnering with the Butts County Chamber of Commerce to host a community Q&A session on February 27th at 5:30 pm. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn more about audition opportunities, volunteer roles, and even how you can support the Guild as a corporate sponsor or patron. For local businesses, this is a chance to get involved and help fuel a creative movement that not only enriches our cultural scene but also brings more life and energy to our community events.
For more details on auditions, volunteer opportunities, and sponsorship options, head over to buttsactingguild.com or email them at [email protected].
Let's come together to support the arts and build a thriving, creative community right here at home. I’ll see you at the Welcome Center for the Q&A on February 27th!
