I recently spoke to a graduate class where we discussed future trends in marketing and public relations. As part of the discussion, I commented that I was still learning the new internet slag—or as I was told, it’s called SMS English! So, as I continue to go ISO (in search of) understanding this new world of words and phrases, I found a few new ones. BTW, I miss the old days where I did not have to ask a millennial to translate the text!?

• BBL = be back later
• TBH = to be honest
• BION = believe it or not
• SMH = shaking my head
• DPWM = Don’t play with me
• ATW = at the weekend
• 2G4Y = too good for you
• IDS = I don’t care
• HMB = Hit me back
• TTYL = Talk to you later
• TTYN = Talk to you never
