Live Moore: Hanoi

To many people, the thought of Hanoi brings back difficult memories of the Vietnam War; however, my travel memories of this beautiful Southeastern Asian capital are of a vibrant, commercial, historical, educational and elegant modern city that still respects its centuries-old culture. Think of a mixture of old French quarter villas and majestic temples; Mercedes and motorbikes; and designer shopping mixed with traditional handicrafts—simultaneously living in the past and moving into the future. The food is outstanding and the people are welcoming. If you travel to Vietnam, I highly recommend that you take advantage of the time and enjoy a two-day cruise on Halong Bay and a two-day trek to Sapa. Here are my favorite places to visit in Hanoi city:
- H?a Lò Prison
- Presidential Palace
- Hanoi Opera House
- Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum
- The Old Quarter
- Thang Long Water Puppets Show
- Temple of Literature and National University
- Hoam Kiem Lake
It is a more traditional and slower-paced city than Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), but like every city be on the watch for speeding motorbikes and pickpockets.
Live Moore.
