This month, Richard and I will celebrate our 43rd wedding anniversary. Richard makes me laugh, roll my eyes and shake my head daily. He is a great husband, father, brother, friend, son-in-law/brother-in-law, businessman, mentor and leader. As I often say, based on his jokes, he has not matured beyond the age of 14.

Here are my thoughts on what makes a successful marriage for us:

  • Enjoy just being together talking
  • Have common interests, but allow each other to have individual ones
  • Have regular date nights
  • Agree to disagree sometimes
  • Say, "I love you" to each other daily
  • Never take each other for granted and cherish our friendship
  • Share the same values
  • Place caring for family first
  • Realize that sometimes you just have to laugh

Mr. Moore, I love you to the moon and back!
