Today morning, I woke up to the news on the killing of LGBTQ+ people in a club. My immediate reaction was, "Why kill them?" and the next reaction was, "Damn the gunman".
No person should be killed because they do not find a place in someone else's heart or mind. In this case, the person who killed other people because they couldn't accept or acknowledge their existence.
I was like, it's okay, not to accept other people for who they are. I believe there is an opportunity for learning and growth in the time to come. But when one takes the life of another person, there is absolutely no coming back.
All this stems from a place of complete displeasure a.k.a hate for a certain person or a group of people. And the hate comes from various sources. End-of-day we fail to realize that hate consumes you and makes you think irrationally and illogical. That's what happened to the person who killed others. We as a society have failed. We talk about love and compassion. Where is that happening in the world today? It seems like negativity is spreading like wildfire while positivity is spreading like lighting a candle, one at a time.
I am always optimistic that the candle will burn strong, and show the light to others only to spread love, compassion, and care for all human beings and animals.
As Robert Frost said, "miles to go before I sleep", let us all commit to having a positive mindset and sharing positivity every day in someone's life around us.
Rest In Peace to the people and animals whose lives have been taken away due to hate.

2 年Indeed Suresh - it’s true that people have very different journeys to acceptance but at a basic minimum, we have to accept everyone’s right to exist! This is sad indeed.
