Travelers, there is no path, paths are made by walking. ~Antonio Machado
I read these beautiful lines as part of an excerpt from a commencement speech. In this speech, Antonio Machado encourages us to #LiveByTheIdeas presented in the acronym "W-A-L-K".
The following is the acronym broken down.
When you walk, you quite literally see more. Your field of vision is nearly 180 degrees. Instead of adding Facebook friends online, we are actually making friends in person, life around us comes alive in a new way.
Cultivate equanimity and accept whatever life tosses into your laps
Give to the world with no strings attached. Purely. Selflessly. Generosity doesn't start when you have something to give, but rather when there’s nothing in you that’s trying to take.
Doing is certainly important, but when we aren't aware of our internal ecosystem, we get so vested in our plans and actions, that we don't notice the buildup of mental residue.
...For me,
the W-A-L-K acronym is wonderful because it encourages me to take charge of my own destiny and fully #EmbraceAllPossibilities.
