LIVE TO ADD VALUE

Why are we alive?
I've asked this question many times and always get the same answer; we are not living for consumption. Think about it; whatever enters the mouth (consumption) goes out, somehow as waste. We expend it one way or the other. Is there ever a time we take in something and it stays with us? When we try to "force-keep" it turns to poison to your system.
It is said that the only things that last are the ones we give to the next person. Note: sometimes, they don't even appreciate what we give.
When we live to add value, wether appreciated or not, we grow. We go higher and get better at that which we do.
Look at it this way, when you decide to share what you have, you get the opportunity to open it up for scrutiny and in doing that you just discover some error... YES. In our learning and growth, we sometimes take in somethings that are not necessarily wrong but outdated. So when we open up to share, we see the areas that need to be updated and we can get down to getting the updated version.
I had an opportunity to interact with some veteran journalists recently during a pro-bono training workshop, a very practical one too, and my mind was opened again to certain sides of the profession (topic for another day).
Today, I'm better than before I went for this workshop.
Do not allow the unappreciative nature of the next person stop you from getting a better you through adding value.
