Little Wins - my new book

Little Wins - my new book

Today I became a published author. I never really saw that one coming!

My book - Little Wins: The Huge Power of Thinking Like a Toddler - argues that we can all unlock our personal potential, not by learning new skills, but by rediscovering old ones, in the mind-set of the toddler that we all once were. It's for anyone who is trying something new, wanting to improve at something or aiming to conquer a challenge by looking at life through the lens of the person we all once were, with a childlike sense of self confidence, free-thinking and imagination.

If that already sounds interesting, the book is available at https://www.amazon.co.uk/Little-Wins-Power-Thinking-Toddler/dp/0241977940/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1491469565&sr=8-1&keywords=paul+lindley

The seed of the idea for the book was planted after being asked many, many times for advice on how to start a business, scale one or create an iconic brand. Having been a parent for nearly 18 years, having spent 9 years at Nickelodeon and over 13 working on the business I created - Ella's Kitchen - I have plenty of experience of toddlers. And they inspire me. I think it's simply incredible that everyone of us went from a helpless baby to an independent young child over the period of maybe 18 months when we learned all the skills to smile, and walk, and talk and play. Skills we need to use throughout our lives, but many of which we disregard or forget we ever had, in our rush to grow up, and take an adult view of our lives. I think it's a huge mistake, for us individually and our society - and Little Wins highlights 9 of those amazing skills - to remind us, each of us, we once had them: confidence, creativity, ambition, determination, honesty, getting ourselves noticed, showing our emotions, playfulness and collaboration.

So, in a world where we are under more stress than ever before, where pressure on us is constant, where mental illness has grown significantly I think we need to press pause and rewind a little. In a world where starting a business is so hard, but entrepreneurship is vital to our development and innovation, where corporate focus is on the short rather than the long term, and where many don't feel they fit into society, we need to approach our lives from a slightly different angle; and in a world where we walk 10% faster than we did in the 1990's, where the average human attention span is 8 seconds; and that of a goldfish remains at 9 seconds, and where we are exposed to as much information in a SINGLE DAY as our 16th Century ancestors were in their entire lives; unless we do something, something will break. My contribution to finding a solution is Little Wins and in looking at our lives, and our community life through the lens we all once did. Simplify decision making, have no fear of failure, enjoy the journey as well as focusing on the destination and IMAGINE. Ask "why" and "why not" and challenge the answers you get. By doing this, my contention is, you will become the best person that you already are. And be happier.

If any of this is intriguing please buy Little Wins, read and consider writing a review and contribute to the conversation: #LittleWins.
