I’m going to let you in on a little secret: I can be a huge procrastinator and sometimes the only way I can get anything done is with a reward.??

If you have nothing to look forward to, your workload can quickly overwhelm you. So I’m a big fan of rewarding yourself after completing a time-consuming task.

However, it’s important that my reward matches the progress that I’ve made.? For example, the reward for spending 20 minutes replying to emails, isn’t a marathon Netflix binge.

Put a limit on it. One episode of You would be a more proportional reward.? If you plan your reward in advance – it’ll be much easier to stick to it and get back to work.

Because a reward doesn’t have to take hours to be effective. Quick ones will do the trick just as well.

Here’s my list of small rewards you can treat yourself to without feeling guilty.

  1. Make a cup of tea.
  2. Go for a walk for 15 minutes.
  3. Listen to your favorite song.
  4. Watch a cute animal video for 4 minutes.
  5. Send a silly text to your friend.

  1. Eat some dark chocolate.
  2. Go on an adventure via Tik Tok for 10 minutes.
  3. Look up something you want to buy online for 15 minutes. (But don’t actually buy it until you’ve finished all your to-do’s for the day!)
  4. If you like to exercise, you could go for a quick jog or do some 10-minute yoga .
  5. Read a chapter of a good book. (Check out my books Listful Thinking and Listful Living !)

Did someone say reward? Rewards are sometimes the only reason I get things done. ?? Usually my reward has me strolling outside and taking a break. And sometimes it's my ego. Just knowing that I can push through and take the next step even though I'm not motivated *is* motivating. Heading off to check your list now.

As a fellow procrastinator, thank you for making the list short and actionable. Will definitely incorporate mini-rewards into my routine... starting tomorrow. ??
