?? BULLETIN NEWS: Taylor Swift fans complete TikTok tasks to unlock 'friendship bracelet'

April saw?the launch of an ‘in-app experience’ on TikTok for Swift’s ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ album, and this week?the partnership has kicked off its second phase, which continues its gamification theme:

  • An 11-week campaign will see fans completing album-themed tasks on TikTok to unlock ‘digital beads’ that form a very-on-brand ‘in-app friendship bracelet’.?Those who complete all the tasks will get a Swift-themed frame for their profile.?
  • Tasks will change each week, but include things like saving a track to a streaming service, watching a video from the tour, or posting videos using Swift’s music or related hashtags.
  • TikTok will also be adding video highlights from the latest concerts on Swift’s ‘The Eras Tour’ during that 11 weeks.
  • The company says there are already more than 3.2m creator videos using the #TheTorturedPoetsDepartment hashtag, and more than 5m using hashtags relating to the tour.
  • It’s the fan challenges that interest us. Gamification has been a periodically-recurring buzzword in the music industry, and Swift herself was involved in?one of the more infamous examples of the trend in 2017.?
