?? BULLETIN NEWS: Key insight from Music Ally Connect 2024

Music Ally's Connect conference took place last week in London, and it was full of fascinating insight from experts across the music industry. You can read our full?round-ups of both days – and some deeper-dives into a few key talks –?right?here?- but here's a few key moments:

  • EVP, chief digital officer at Universal Music Group, Michael Nash, suggested in his keynote speech that he?predicted growth to more than a billion music subscriptions – with?at least 100 million from 13 developed markets that UMG is tracking, while more than 200 million will come from developing (newer) markets.
  • The panel on streaming fraud?featured the co-CEO of music fraud analysis company Beatdapp?Morgan Hayduk who mentioned what they?thought the eye-opening scale of the problem is:?“We’ve looked at almost two and half trillion streams over the last calendar year,” said Hayduk. “We think that it’s up to 10% of all streaming that’s manipulated, that’s fraud… that’s a bit sobering.”
  • Deezer CEO Jeronimo Folgueira was?interviewed by MMF CEO Annabella Coldrick, and he explained how the platform was now to focus on "quality over quantity… We want to remunerate people who bring quality, not just vast quantities of content every day.”
