Literature during this Pandemic about Pandemics!
Today's Wall Street Journal has an article by Lawrence Wright -author of "THe End of October" who lists five "best" pandemics in fact and fiction. Barbara Tuchman's A Distant Mirror about the bubonic plague in the 14th century; A Journal of the Plague Year by Daniel Defoe about the winter of 1664 in London; America's Forgotten Pandemic by Alfred Crosby about the 1918-19 Spanish Flu; The Great Influenza by John Barry who has been an adviser to multiple Presidents and Pale Horse, Pale Ride by Katherine Anne Porter which is a novel set during the pandemic of 1918-19 and which has been described as "one of the great achievements of American literature.
