I found this chat between Scott Galloway and Josh Bersin interesting.?
It starts on the theme of working from home but ventures into some interesting discussions around generational attitudes, AI, what makes employees happy, and at what point is in-person work most important with regard to impacting their overall success.?
A lot of the discussion points really resonated with me.?As a former New Yorker who survived over a decade of the long commute via LIRR to NYC + subways in a suit arriving early and staying late, I do believe that early in my career it was important to be there physically in the office.?As Scott says "...relationships are built around proximity, if you are hanging around the hoop, you have the opportunity to collect more rebounds."
With that said, at this stage in my career I am delighted to work from home (when I am not visiting up to 5 continents each year) and my job is ideally suited for that type of work.?But it is individual.?Every person, every experience, every job is going to be different.?Do I think we all have to go back to the office??Immediately No, but I do not think every person or job is ideally suited to work from home. There is no one-size-fits-all answer. That's my opinion but listening to these two discuss it is far more entertaining.?Check it out for yourself.??
