Listen to Your Voice, Not the Noise

Listen to Your Voice, Not the Noise

Everybody talks.

And, they always will.

It’s up to you to choose who to listen to and who not to.

For instance, in your head are the thoughts, opinions, and beliefs of not only you, but your family, friends, coworkers, strangers, news reporters, celebrities, etc.

They tell you what to think, who you are, what you can do, what to do, how to live your life, how to further your career, and how to be a better you.

These voices are what shape our clarity and confidence – either by helping ourselves or limiting ourselves.

This “identity” is a combination of both social and personal factors – what’s been inherited and what’s swayed how we talk to ourselves.

And although we may not be able to get rid of the voices that we’ve been influenced by from other people, we can choose to listen to them or not.

For, their opinions have no foundation in defining what you are about.

Whether you have a disability or not, are a college dropout or not, married or not, employed or not, Steve Jobs or not, been told “no” or that you “can’t” – listen to your voice and not the noise from others.

Being in control of these inner thoughts are vital for each of our personal growth.

Stop listening to noise that contradicts your instincts.

Stop listening to the noise that rehashes sad memories.

Instead, shift your voice to one that promotes reflection rather than blame.

Shift the noise by surrounding yourself with positive, supporting influencers.

Don’t let your perception of the world and of yourself be shaped by the thoughts and beliefs of other people.

“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition” Steve Jobs

These judgments that people make are assumptions. They are based on who they are and what they think, and are not who you are.

You are the expert on you. That is what this ultimately comes down to.

This was such a great read. ‘LISTEN TO YOUR VOICE, not the noise’ is my new mantra—it’s also a great phrase to teach my 6-year old son to help him in his journey, as well. ??
