Listen To Your Customers. They Will Tell You Everything You Need To Know.

Listen To Your Customers. They Will Tell You Everything You Need To Know.

What does your company do? How well does your company do what it is that you do? Where can you improve, and where are you considered to be the best in the industry? You may think you know the answers to these questions, but, in fact, your customers and prospects can answer these questions far better than you or anyone in your organization!

I have worked with many companies, trying to help them identify what their customers and prospects perceive them as. What usually astonishes them is that they consider their organization to be great at many different things, while a majority of their customers rely on them for a much narrower scope of products and services.

Also, I ask the company I am working with to rate themselves on certain metrics, important criteria to measure themselves by. While they may think that they are doing very well in some areas, once I poll the people they do business with, the responses sometimes show something completely different.

You see, it is not that these companies are performing poorly, that they are bad businesses with inadequate business models, but rather they have formed policies and procedures that are important to their vision, and practice them blindly, without asking their customers what criteria are important to them!

Your business must constantly evolve as a whole to meet the needs of the clients that you serve, while also providing specific solutions for specific customers. Said differently, on a Macro Level you must be adapting to the environments you are a part of, while on a Micro Level taking every measure to find out what is important to the specific companies you are working with!

The only way to get the information you need to "Keep Your Finger On The Pulse" is to ASK!! Ask your customers what is important to them, and not just management. Ask the day to day decision makers how you and your company can make their job easier on a daily basis. Ask how your company is perceived by them individually. You may not only be surprised at the answers you get, but also then be able to adapt correctly to fullfill their needs and become a better business partner.

This post is not intended to be an advertisement for DK Industrial Solutions, but we can help your organization with this process, and cater the program specifically to your company and your client base. Whether or not you choose to ask us how we can help, please do not forget to constantly ASK YOUR CUSTOMER how you can help them!

Great post Daniel, 100% agree. Voice of Customer is a simple and often overlooked strategy for success.
