Listen: The Chief Culinary Officer Of Jumeirah Group Gives A Cuisine Masterclass
In business sometimes we take things for granted. Apple is a luxury brand and produces great products. Wimbledon is an iconic tennis tournament and institution. And The Jumeirah Group, originally a Dubai hospitality entry, now global, is known for its service and culinary expertise, not to mention it's flagship Burj Al Arab hotel.
But they need visions to be continuously carried out. Even hire, every brand partnership, every influencer selected.
But how? The long time CEO Gerald Lawless always put F&B front and cetre on the hotel offerings.
Now Jose Silva, previously of The Four Seasons group, is continuing that as CEO. But wanting something to happen is one thing.
He called upon a trusted industry contact, Mr. Michael Ellis, and attracted him over from The Michelin Restaurant & Hotels Guide, who then, given his wealth of knowledge of the best in the business, and personal contacts, was able to bring with him the top chefs.
What we see is an ever-evolving culinary offering, often the talk of the town when a new offering opens.
This week I had the pleasure of being joined by a true gastronomic encyclopedia, Michael Ellis, the Chief Culinary Office at Jumeriah Group. A role he has occupied since 2018 having moved from Michelin Restaurant & Hotel Guides across Europe, Asia and the Americas, and oversees the Jumeriah Groups F&B operations across hotels & resorts for signature fine dining to family and more casual dining experiences.
On the show, we will talk about Foodie Kids, a new initiative by Jumeriah Group, but also Micheal gives his views on:
- Whether France are still culinary leaders
- The history of the Michelin Guide, how it started out
- The best meal he ever had - he has eaten in 1,500 Michelin Star Restaurants
- Soical Media & Instagram Food Critics
