The List to Prevent Addiction - Before Symptoms And Tragedy

The List to Prevent Addiction - Before Symptoms And Tragedy

Great News! Once the pattern of addiction is understood, the same parts can be reorganized into protection from addiction and those suffering from it.

At no time in the history of addiction have we been this close to helping so many, so quickly at such a low cost. At no time in history have we needed this kind of solution more.

First I will illustrate the pattern of addiction. Then how to reorganize factors into protection from addiction. All of this information is free and available at www.prehabmapp. Contact me for any level of collaboration. I do consulting, training, and speaking for a fee.

Here is the empowerment model that exposed the cause of addiction…eventually.

The MAPP model along with the Prehab presentation define five stages of addiction. The middle three columns Physical, Mental and Perception (AKA Risk Response) progress from

Low Risk at Stage 0 to Severe Risk at Stage 4. Outcomes are illustrated in the presentation.

That’s it. Progress accordingly and anyone can be addicted.

Why would anyone do this?

They wouldn't. They perceive they are doing just the opposite. These perceptions change when they select the facts in the model according to their own experiences without arousing defenses or feelings. It’s simply a gap in our risk response system. There is more.

This model measures addiction only. This sudden realization was a stunning shock when I realized what the data was telling me. Most college freshmen (75%) do not progress past stage 1. This is a scientific and repeatable fact. This model does not accommodate this score.

Could there be another model? Yes, it was staring me in the face patiently waiting to be discovered. All I had to do was match the perception risk factors to a model for two stages. BOOM Mushroom Cloud. The factors work exactly the same way in a different order. An order the addiction risk group felt like they were doing.

The next model has all the risk factors being used between stages 0 and 1. Stages 2,3 and 4 are unnecessary for these students. Notice all interactions are in the high-benefit column. These students are protected. They experiment responsibly and either adapt or reject a new behavior in stage 0 and repeat = improving daily.

The addiction pattern cycles between stages 2,3 and 4. They do not return to stage 0 or stage 1. This moving around looks like change to people that don’t know any better. Over time and familiarity, this becomes a pattern that cannot be broken by the human will alone. This is the pattern to discourage suicide and encourage the person that will develop by changing patterns. See below.

A higher Power is now necessary. Foundation changes must take place. Treatment is a good place to start reorganizing all choices and actions into the high-benefit pattern. 12-step programs work very much in this manner if action is taken and directions followed. Support will not be enough. Meeting attendance alone is not a program.

Can both patterns be illustrated at the same time? Yes, they can. This is another way to take a quick, brief, and low-cost inventory based on the Prehab (Moore, 2016) discovery. See the regression model below.

There you have it as promised. How addiction works and how it can be stopped by reorganizing the risk response patterns.

Addiction is a gap in our risk response system that becomes stronger over time as more factors are integrated into a pattern we learn to defend.

Moving from a survival mode dependent pattern that merely feels right to a contributory mode autonomous pattern that is high benefit.

This week's significant quotation:

“Learning is not something done to students, but rather something students themselves do. It is the direct result of how students interpret and respond to their experiences - conscious and unconscious, past and present” (Ambrose et al., 2010, p.3).

What’s so tricky about addiction is the slippery slope component - by the time you realize you’re in hardcore addiction all too often you’re past the point of no (easy) return.
