Mould that grows in offices, hotels, private homes or public buildings such as shopping-malls is a constant problem due to high humidity and heat, and it affects people's health and quality of life as well as the image of companies. Until now, mould removal has only helped temporarily

A climate with high humidity of over 70% at warm temperatures inevitably leads to mould growth. The harmful microorganisms spread to walls, ceilings, sofas, tile grouts and rubber seals.

Although mould can be professionally removed from surfaces, this does not prevent new infestation, because the climatic conditions remain and so new carpets of mould grow again and again. Liquid Glass against mould

In order to permanently get the problem under control, the mould spores must be deprived of the basis for settling and multiplying. The company Nanopool has developed a method that functionalizes surfaces of all kinds – be it concrete, plastic, rubber or textiles – in such a way that harmful microorganisms can no longer adhere to them and cannot feed or multiply.

“Liquid Glass” is the magic word here. Due to its specific surface properties, glass hardly offers a target for the adhesion and the spread of microorganisms. With the help of the glass raw material silicon dioxide - SiO2 for short - the company Nanopool has succeeded in developing a liquid that forms a barrier layer on all types of surfaces comparable to ultra-thin glazing and thus permanently repels mould spores. The coating permanently connects to the surfaces and is flexible and stretchable even on textiles.

Proven effectiveness

The effectiveness of this process has been proven in numerous studies by experts and in practical customer applications. For example, around 2,500 square meters of interior ceiling surfaces in a supermarket in Germany were glazed with the NP? coating. Comparative swab tests showed only 2 mould spores per 28.3 cm2 on the coated surface, while the untreated surface showed a dangerous lawn of mould. This result becomes even more important when considered that the last remaining spores on the NP? Liquid Glass layer no longer have a basis for further reproduction and spread.

This method also provides long-term protection for air conditioning and evaporation systems in all areas. In an industrial butcher's shop, for example, the drip tray of an evaporator was treated with the NP? technology. Where previously a harmful biofilm had regularly formed on the surface of the collected liquid, the system could be classified as germ-free after the NP? treatment and the quality of the room air has therefore become significantly healthier.

Numerous environmental and scientific awards also testify to the function and harmlessness of the solution. In the healthcare environment, for example, “Land der Ideen” (land of ideas) recognized the NP? product as national winner in the Science category for the application "Liquid Glass against hospital germs". The British National Health Service NHS also recognized the NP? technology as “Smart Solution” against contamination of surfaces in hospitals.

Permanently render existing mould harmless

Another advantage of the patented coating process is the possibility of sealing contaminated surfaces in such a way that even growth deeply settled in the material can no longer cause any damage to health. The materials permeated by mould are permanently glazed with the NP? technology. This reliable and harmless seal stops both reproduction and spore flight, so that the microorganisms can no longer get into the air we breathe. The Liquid Glass layer permanently and safely encloses otherwise hardly removable microorganisms (e.g. black mould).

Due to its unique structure, the Liquid Glass barrier cannot chip off. The layer provides permanent protection and can simply be painted over for example with wall paint. The solution has been proven to be completely harmless to people, nature and surfaces. It is applied by simply spraying on.
