Lippert Rail patents a new Innovative Ski & luggage Storage Modular System

How innovation and prototyping synergy offered a top-class solution for touristic trains in Italy?

?Back in September 2023, the Lippert Rail team faced a last-minute challenge: the development and production of a modular ski rack system for special trains.

The ski racks were designed to serve a dual purpose—accommodating skis and providing luggage storage. This required a modular and robust design.

The pre-assembly process took place entirely at LIPPERT-TEC, the Lippert Technical Excellence Center in the heart of Tuscany. The center provides customers with a unique service, emphasizing the efficient development of new products from concept to prototype and validation tests. It also consolidates innovation and engineering services in a single facility for improved performance.

After two and a half months of development and prototyping, on-site assembly in the carriages was scheduled to be ready for the train exercise in December.

Francesco Tatini , Innovation Manager at Lippert in the EMEA region, remarked, "Though the project posed stressful yet compelling challenges, it exemplified the synergy between innovation and prototyping under demanding timelines.
