LinkedIn's Mysteries: When Connection Means Contradiction
LinkedIn reigns supreme as the professional social network in today's interconnected world, where ambitious individuals join together to extend their networks, seek opportunities, and demonstrate their competence. However, amid this virtual utopia lurks a perplexing paradox: people become agitated when they get messages from their relationships. Let's explore this puzzling region where connection and upheaval collide, all while emphasizing the value of emotional intelligence.
Connection? Yes. Communication? What the...
LinkedIn is a social networking website where you may connect with industry professionals, thought leaders, and possible collaborators. It's a place to throw a wide net of virtual relationships in the hopes of catching fresh prospects. But, alas, the irony: some people appear to be perfectly pleased to accept your connection requests while recoiling at the prospect of communication. It's like going to a party and expecting everyone to read your mind rather than converse with you. Let's be honest: that's not how connections operate.
Conversation as a Lost Art: This is where emotional intelligence comes in. Consider this, you've spent hours composing a personalized message, demonstrating genuine interest in a connection's work, and expressing your belief that you may cooperate or simply learn from each other. You eagerly press the "send" button, hoping for a positive response. Instead, you get a virtual eye-roll and a frustrated sigh. What became of the art of conversation?
?
Reaping the Benefits of Selfish Harvest: Reaching out to your connections exclusively for personal gain, seeing them as stepping stones on your path to success, is one of the cardinal sins of LinkedIn etiquette. This demonstrates not only a lack of emotional intelligence but also a lack of basic decency. It's as if someone goes to a networking event, interrupts every conversation, and wants everyone to celebrate their chutzpah. This is not a nice look, people.
?
So, why connect if you're not going to communicate? The million-dollar question is, why do people connect on LinkedIn if they are anti-communication? Perhaps they feel that simply building a large network of contacts will suddenly propel them to professional greatness. Or perhaps they see LinkedIn as nothing more than a virtual trophy cabinet, where the number of connections matters more than the actual interactions. In any case, it's time to reset our expectations.

1 年It's an interesting read! I can easily agree with your valid points on connecting, catching fresh prospects, expressing your belief that you may cooperate & simply learn from each other??. I’m sorry that you’re disappointed with your communicator.? I'd also sense that it covers only one of the many faces of this scenario. I mean, we talk about empathy; we have to put our feet in their shoes as well, right? ?? There are genuinely innocent explanations as well for the non-response, with some cases.? Ps: Word count is not allowing me to enter all factors, SO I'm gonna split it into parts.
