As someone who has been an active LinkedIn user for years, I’ve seen firsthand how valuable this platform can be for networking and professional growth. However, I’ve noticed a few changes recently that I think deserve some attention, particularly the new rule limiting posts in LinkedIn groups to 15 times per week. While I understand the intention behind limiting spam or excessive posting, this restriction feels like it may be hindering users’ ability to genuinely connect and engage.
Many of us belong to multiple groups that are niche-specific. For example, if you’re in marketing, finance, or any industry, you likely participate in groups that cater to those fields. With LinkedIn allowing users to join up to 100 groups, the 15-post limit doesn’t align well with how professionals use these groups to share content and interact with different communities. For those of us managing multiple clients or even running a business, it’s important to have the flexibility to post relevant content regularly. I believe a bit more flexibility here would benefit users and foster more dynamic group discussions.
On top of the posting limits, LinkedIn’s approach to connections could use some rethinking as well. I understand that quality over quantity is key when building a network, but networking is also about reaching out to new people who share common interests or professional goals. If a user declines a connection request and indicates they don’t know you, it can sometimes lead to account restrictions. This approach seems to discourage the very essence of networking. Connecting with like-minded professionals, even if we don’t know them personally, is part of what makes LinkedIn a powerful tool for career growth.
One area where LinkedIn could also improve is in managing scam accounts. Over the years, I’ve received numerous connection requests that turned out to be from suspicious or fake profiles. While I’ve reported these issues, the process often feels cumbersome, and sometimes the same types of accounts continue to appear. I believe LinkedIn could invest more in proactively identifying and removing these accounts, making the platform safer and more trustworthy for all of us. It would be great to see more user support in this area.
And let’s talk about the cost. For a long time, I paid $76.03 each month for LinkedIn Premium, thinking I was getting the tools I needed to expand my business network. But the restrictions on group posts, the constant threat of penalties for connecting with new people, and the increasingly limited reach made me question the value of this service. I recently canceled my Premium subscription because, frankly, it’s become more of a hassle than a help.
All in all, I’m sharing these thoughts in the hopes that LinkedIn will consider some adjustments to its policies. As users, we value the platform for its ability to connect us with opportunities, people, and industries, and a few tweaks could make the experience even better. More flexibility with group postings, a more balanced approach to connection requests, and a stronger stance on scam prevention could go a long way in enhancing LinkedIn as a premier networking site.
Let’s keep the conversation going on how we can continue to make LinkedIn a place where meaningful connections thrive. What are your thoughts on these recent changes?

1 个月The new LinkedIn Group Posting Limits are not only extremely burdensome and counterproductive but also a measure that fosters inequality by favoring more established and stronger groups while effectively preventing new groups from emerging. Users limited to posting in only 15 groups will naturally prioritize larger groups that offer greater visibility, leaving medium-sized and smaller groups struggling to gain traction. This approach is designed to encourage paid account subscriptions, yet it ends up discouraging active participation and creating disaffection. A social network should appreciate the efforts made by many to share valuable information rather than creating barriers that hinder or discourage this...

1 个月This limit has hindered our corporate growth, as we reach into several different areas of expertise. It came without warning. Another issue is how LinkedIn has done nothing to limit hateful rhetoric and political posts in what is supposed to be a business environment. The platform is becoming Facebook/X "lite", and also to your point the innumerable scam posters and accounts. Honestly, I'd like to find a new alternative to LinkedIn, as I believe it's not nearly as effective as it was just a few years ago.

1 个月Excellent post. Just from several very personal experiences. Most Platforms, and we are not going to "name names", are starting to feel more like thin ice as opposed to a solid foundation. There are cracks there. You snooze, you break through. And not in a good way. Selling unlimited potential, while suffering from uncontrollable greed is not a good combo. Conclusion? Sellers, curb your revenue enthusiasm ! Buyers...? Think. Or swim.
