On LinkedIn, are you following a GREAT servant leader, just a good one, or one who is simply BAD out there?

Several months ago, a recognized healthcare advocate and a LinkedIn influencer blocked me. From his article, which I thought I had agreed with, and our subsequent open and honest discourse via LinkedIn messages, with my stated intent and commitment to agree to disagree without being disagreeable, I was blocked. Before then, I could not find his LinkedIn profile nor was I notified of his posts and articles through my “Notifications” feed. To me, he had vanished. When I asked a colleague about what happened to this LinkedIn influencer, she told me she could see his profile. That is when we both knew he had blocked me.
I don't understand why he would ever block me.
LinkedIn
is a business-focused social media network platform, after all. Through
LinkedIn
, people share professional conversations
To me, whatever their title or position, some authors seek to be servant leaders
“How are you feeling?"
"How can I help?”
When these authors ask, listen intently

Other LinkedIn influencers speak top-down, one-way without ever interacting with their respective readers. They are solely promoters with their posts and selfies that tout, "Me! Me! Me!" As a reader, you know who these influencers are. They have a large number of connections and followers, but they are not true servant leaders. As authors, they are really good. But as servant leaders, they’re just not GREAT out there!
Then, there are the LinkedIn blockers, like the influencer I initially mentioned and a CX influencer who blocked me months ago (I did not know it until this week). They speak with one voice and can only accept someone who speaks a complementary voice to theirs. These authors feed their egos as they only interact with people who have similar perspectives. As servant leaders, these authors are not just good. They are simply BAD out there!??
What do you think? Whether you agree or disagree, discuss or not, I’m sure that we, yes, you and me, can interact with each other without being disagreeable. And for that, I very much appreciate you. I look forward to seeing what you have to say and whom you consider to be GREAT servant-leader authors.
?Until then, don’t be just good. Be GREAT out there! ??

12 个月Thank you for including me Bill, but more importantly, thank you for making a vital point about servant leadership. We started a little social experiment in the 1960s in which social freedom became a big priority, and there were certainly many positives to this. But what has also been left behind in the residue is the "Me, Me, Me!" attitude replacing the "Us and We." Sadly, the social media, (and LInkedIn is one of the better ones,) have made it worse. As Chris L. Brown noted true servant leadership is rare.

12 个月Great post, Bill Quiseng. I'm flattered you included me on this list of great LI thought leaders. I think you are the model LI citizen. You not only share your wisdom (from years of experience in the hospitality industry), you also participate in conversations and comment on posts. Thanks for being YOU!
