Is LinkedIn a viable means of connecting and having a dialogue?
QUESTION OF THE DAY...March22, 2022
I have been writing a series of questions, that I call “Question of the Day”, for a couple of months now.?Each “question” is presented with a brief description or explanation to try and get some level of reaction. I have received little.
Perhaps I am asking the wrong questions, not reaching an audience, providing too much explanation, or not enough. Or, perhaps, LinkedIn is not the right place to try and connect with people and engage them in conversation.
I currently have over 3600 connections within LinkedIn and have tried to reach out and send messages to many of them.?Doing the pandemic, I reached out with individual messages to well over 1000 of my connections and received some level of response from about 20%.?I asked how they were doing and if I could help them in any way.?I continue to be somewhat selective in asking people to connect, and I work at thanking each of them when they do.?I stay away from topics that I believe are too controversial and try not to offer too much of my own perspective.

LinkedIn can be, I believe, a valuable tool to bring ideas and people together. It has allowed me to connect with a wide variety of people from different positions and perspectives. I enjoy reading many of their posts and have learned a great deal from them. I comment when I have a perspective, and like when it needs supported.
Will you help me to better understand the value of LinkedIn and how you use it? How many connections do you have and how well do you communicate with them? Do they share your posts, or even like them??What should I be doing differently?
