Latest LinkedIn? New Features and Updates
Profiles
?? Your Viewers Also Viewed
On your main profile page on desktop, there is now a list of the profiles the viewers of your profile have also visited. Private to you and only for Premium members it seems.
?? 2 Improvements in Analytics
? We can now add a Custom Date range within the last 365 days.? Currently only showing on mobile for post reach and engagement and new followers.
? Update of Who's viewed your profile for Premium members
This allows us to sort our profile views by most recent and most relevant.
?? Profile appearances added to Analytics
On the Search appearances page of our profile analytics, there will be a new heading ‘Profile appearances’. This will reportedly refer to the instances where your name and headline appear across LinkedIn eg posts in feed, comments or search results.
It will also give more detail on ‘All appearances’ and ‘Search appearances’ each of which will display a percentage increase or decrease over the past week.
This should not be confused with Profile views which tells you the number of times someone has visited your profile and, with Premium, who they are.
?? ‘Open to volunteering’ now searchable
We are now supposed to be able to run a search to find out who is open to volunteering opportunities. This feature was added late last year but the new search function which appears in the People section does not seem to deliver correct results as yet.
?? Premium Custom button change for newsletters
?Currently the button says ‘View my newsletter’ but will change to ‘Subscribe to newsletter’
Posting
?? Post engagement menu updated (again)
By our count there are currently 3 different engagement menu options in use. You may even have one that differs from these three. Those that disappear from the line below the post now show up in the [ …] menu at the top right of the post.
?? Posts in Activity updated
Until now our posts in Activity have displayed a list. Now, they’re a vertical slide-scroll format that shows more of the content and media.
?? New Vertical Video format in main feed
Only on iOS for now, it looks like videos will display more prominently in the main feed (as opposed to the standalone video feed). You’ll still be able to click through to the Immersive feed, however.
Kevin D. Turner reports vertical videos will have?more dominant placement and rounded edges. There are also changes to the video author’s name and headline display and the Follow button will be overlayed on top of the video.
Miscellaneous
?? Minor graphical updates to:
? Upgrade my plan – You no longer need to cancel your plan to see pricing.
?? AI job description and suggested skills added to free job post adverts
This is based on the job title chosen from the dropdown box.
?? Games performance summary
Social Media Today, LLC reported that those enjoying LinkedIn games will soon have access to a summary of their in-game performance. A?Playback overview?will give you your scores, ranking, and more.
?? BREAKING NEWS alert
LinkedIn is adding ‘Breaking news’ to the top of our home page.
?? Premium Duo subscription
This seems to be a way for two people to share the same LinkedIn Premium Career or Business subscription.?Both accounts are separate and private but paid for in one bill. An example for using this might be when a business owner wants to pay for the subscription of a team member. There’s no news yet on whether this is cheaper than two individual subscriptions but even if not it could be an accounting saving.

OPINION: The value of combining newsletters and videos
The new LinkedIn audio platform in operation since December has unleashed a surprising wealth of opportunity. Through the addition of visuals audio is no longer simply audio.
Audios now have speakers who can be seen, and the ability to add images, video, presentations and live screens. This gives audio events (which now need a new name) a completely different look and feel. One that is so far proving popular.
Given the value of video to demonstrate authenticity, using it in other contexts is worth experimenting with. And so, with the start of a new year giving me the impetus to try new ideas, this month I'm adding a video opinion piece to my newsletter instead of writing it.
In this video I talk about the value of combining video and newsletters.
